No egg chocolate cake

I don't remember where I found this but it's a fantastic recipe when one wants a treat and has no eggs.

1 cup sugar
2 cups flour (cake flour if you have it)
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup salad dressing
1 cup room temperature water
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix everything together, and bake for 30 minutes in an oven that's been preheated for at least 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Top with whipped cream, syrup or ice cream.

2 questions: Can it be made with whole wheat flour or does that mess up the taste? Can mayonnaise be substituted for the salad dressing?

Oh, and one more, LOL. Have you ever substituted honey for the sugar? Just thinking if made with whole wheat flour the honey might moisten it more.

I haven't made it with whole wheat but I have made it with 1/2 white and 1/2 whole wheat. It was fine that way, too. I imagine mayo can be used instead of salad dressing but it might need a tad more sweetener. I think the honey idea is good if you use WW and that might help with the mayo idea, too. If you try that, would you let me know, please?

Sure. We try to stay away from refined white sugar, so I like to use honey as much as possible, it gives food a slightly sweeter taste than sugar, so probably mayo with honey would be fine. I think I will try it out, maybe this weekend. If I do I'll let you know.
