I just wanted to post a quick entry about the envelope system we created for office expenses. It's working and oh boy, how it's working!
Today is the 7th of the month and we already have 1/3 of the money we need to pay the bills later this month. Of course, it doesn't hurt that we're using Dave Ramsey's envelope system for our personal expenses and we've saved almost $100 by not smoking for a week.
All these things have combined to give us a little bit of financial breathing room. And I hope it continues!
I can't recommend strongly enough taking Financial Peace University. Even if you don't have debt (or much debt) it's a worthwhile course for information on budgeting, saving, and investing.

Where is the FPU? Is it online? My best friend was having problems with her finances (always complained about it) and I went through things with her yesterday. With no money saved and credit card debt spread over 8 cards, I had no idea what to tell her, except to agree with her that she probably should get another prosper loan($6,000 with $200 monthly payments for three years). As someone not in her situation, I didn't even know where to begin. I should probably send her to FPU. Any infor?

Also, have her listen to his archived shows. They help, too.

Mom-Sense: If you can help your friend to write down every debt and to start paying off the one that has the lowest balance; that might be a start for her.
People like this need alot of encouragement and told that they can do it. If she will listen, she'll become a grateful friend.

I love Dave Ramsey. I found his program while on a long drive home one weekend and I've been a faithful listener ever since.
Dave Ramsey and savingadvice.com help keep me out of debt.
I am so grateful for both!
