That's pretty much what I say when someone comes in and orders a decaf, non-fat, sugar free whatever. Whether it's a vanilla latte, a mocha, or a jazzed up coffee of the week, when I hear the words "decaf", "non-fat", and "sugar free" in the same sentence, my eyes glaze over, my tongue feels a little fuzzy, and the first thing that comes to mind is...what's the point?
If you're pregnant I can see it, maybe, but even that's pushing it. Apparently the common obstetric advice now is that pregnant women should go decaf. Okay, so order a decaf. But why order it non-fat and sugar free, too? Why not just drink water with splenda in it? Oh, it wouldn't taste the same, I know, but still...
No really, I don't mind that people order that...I just can't help but think of it as a "what's the point" and then call it that. The customers think it's funny which is a good thing. I doubt that the muckety mucks would like it, though. Huh...
And what does this have to do with personal finance? Not much, though water with splenda would be a hell of a lot cheaper, but I wanted to share my thoughts on it with yall.
Hoping everyone has a great Sunday!
So... you want a Tall/Grande/Venti what's the point...

If we have a serious economic downturn, it will be interesting - what will people consider a coffee-drink? A necessity like coffee is (to the real coffee drinkers), or a luxury?

Salads NEED full flavored dressing and not the lite, diet dressing. That stuff is horrible.
Starbuck$$ and other coffee cafes I stay away from. It's just $$OVER PRICED$$ sugar water w/milk in it. For my money coffee tastes best brewed at home and you need to drink it right after brewing. We also drink Hawaiian Isle's coffee which is way better than anything around this neck of the woods.

I never drank coffee, always did tea, black, with sugar.

Yeah but the artificial sweetener is a big no no for pregnant woman. (Should be a big no no for anyone).
Amen. I am not a coffee drinker, but NEVER understood diet soda. If you are going to pour that crap into your body (which I do, I love soda), might as well be GOOD. LOL.
BUT my mom is diabetic and can only drink diet sodas. So I tend to gripe a lot about the whole diet thing. She puts me in my place. From her perspective anyway.
Of course now the studies say the diet/low-fat stuff makes you fatter. I can attest to that. I just eat small portions of good stuff. Avoid the health problems with diet stuff (questionable), and stay slimmer anyway.
If you want to offend me, ask me if I want my soda to be diet, or worse, assume I meant diet and bring me a diet one. Blech!!!! I guess it is weird for a woman to ask for a regular soda. So aggravating!!

Likewise, I drink diet pop because sometimes I want a flavorful drink (I drink juice, milk, tea and water at home) with my food but if I drink regular pop, forget the meal. I am too full. I switched to diet pop because I realized I wasn't eating because of the calories in my beverage. Getting all of your calories from pop is not healthy! (I did also cut back on the pop as well.)

Personally, if I go to have a hamburger, I just drink water now. You do get used to it. That doesn't have any calories.
Ever once in a while, I'll have a soft drink, but that's it. Or - I will have one mixed with an alcoholic beverage.
